The Mepe Afernoto festival is the annual festival celebrated by the Chiefs and people of the Mepe Traditional area in the North Tongu District . The Mepe Afernoto festival displays the rich history and cultural essence of the people of Mepe which attracts people from far and near. The name of the festival, Afernoto means a period of staying/rest at home. It’s a period where all occupational activities are brought to an end. Some of the activities include settling of family disputes and discussions pertaining to developmental projects for the following year. The grand durbar was held on the first Saturday of August as tradition demands. This years edition was shrouded in numerous activities including beach parties, bonfire and artistes nights and many more.
