The 63rd Ghana's Independence Day Celebrations in North Tongu was celebrated on 6th March, 2020 at Juapong Methodist Park. The event saw schools in and around Juapong, Volo, Battor and Mepe taking part in this year's celebrations. Schools that participated in the celebrations were from Primary, Junior High and Senior High.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for North Tongu, Hon Richard Collins Arku, addressed the gathering by saluting the forefathers of the country who fought for the independence of the country. He urged all Ghanaians to work together and have a positive mindset to move this great nation forward.
He also urged the youth to be mindful since " we are in an election year".
Like other years, the parade featured march pasts from pupils, students, security services, and some dance groups also featured.
Moving the 6th March celebrations for the first time since the establishment of the North Tongu District to Juapong was a success. The turnout was overwhelming, and all students gave their best on the occasion.
