This year, the North Tongu District was honoured to host the Volta Regional Edition of Ghana's celebration of the World Contraception Day, an event celebrated to mark the importance of Family Planning and making informed decisions.The event was held on the 25th of September in the District capital, Battor with the theme: Family planning in the midst of COVID-19.
In attendance were dignitaries and key stakeholders of the Ghana Health Service, Marie Stopes Ghana and USAID ghana amongst others.
School children from some selected schools in the District were in attendance and various talks were given to educate attendees about family planning and the importance of making informed choices.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a brand new vehicle by the Member of Parliament of the North Tongu Constituency to the longest serving midwife, Madam Beatrice Blessing Obidieh for her many years of dedication and commitment at the Battor Catholic Hospital since 2003.
