NORTH TONGU DISTRICT CELEBRATES 37TH FARMERS DAY AT DOFO-ADIDOME 

The National Farmers’ Day is observed each year in honour of our hard-working and gallant farmers and fisher folks. It is a day to acknowledge their enormous contribution to our national economy. This year’s celebration which is the 37th of its kind was held on the 3rd of December 2021 and was centered on the theme “Planting for Food and Jobs – Consolidating Food Systems in Ghana”. The venue was Dorfor Adidome D. A. Basic School compound. The importance of farmers’ day cannot be over-emphasized, as the famers showed great interest to be recognized on this occasion. Thirty-eight (38) farmers were nominated for screening but only twenty-two were (22 shortlisted).              
During the celebration, there was a grand durbar of chiefs, some dignitaries including the Honorable District Chief Executive,Coordinating Director, District Director of Agric etc, were also present.
In his address, the DCE commended all Farmers and Fisherfolk for their hardwork and dedication and encouraged them to keep up with the good work since they are the backbone of the economy.
The overall best farmer award went to Kanor Kabutey from Kpomkpo who was awarded with an eye catching prize of a brand new tricycle a.k.a "motorkia" along with some other items.

The ceremony was an overall success.
