On Tuesday the 5th of April 2022, the Volta River Authority embarked on a workshop in the North Tongu District as the district is one out of the ten districts that may be impacted in case of an emergency at Akosombo and Kpong Hydro plants. The aim of the workshop was to check the procedures, update records, test internal organization and response times in case of an emergency.

Present at the event were the Hon. District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, Traditional leaders, Representatives from the VRA and stakeholders in the District.

Discussed at the meeting were the various measures and plans that have been put in place to ensure the safety of the community incase of an emergency. The facilitators also highlighted on the various interventions that they have undertaken in the communities such as job creation. They also mentioned that measures have been put in place to start the dredging of weeds from the Volta river and requested for the co-operation of all the stakeholders to make the project a successful one.
