On Sunday the 6th of March 2022, the North Tongu District joined many other districts across the country in the celebration of the Country’s 65th Independence Day Anniversary. This year’s celebration took place at the Battor Catholic Basic D/A School under the theme ‘Working together - Bouncing Back Better’. The occasion was chaired by Torgbegah Patima Dzekley,the paramount Chief of the Battor Traditional Area.
In his address as Chairman, he called for unity among all stakeholders for the betterment and progress of the district. He again advised students to take their education seriously in order to become good citizens for the district and the country at large.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Osborn Divine Fenu in his address extended the President’s warm felicitations to all present. According to him, the theme called on all Ghanaians to come together and work towards attaining sustainable economic recovery as the nation marks her 65th Independence anniversary.
He added that the Government and the Assembly will continue to provide the necessary infrastructure for the economy to pick up as well as improve upon the standard of living of the people.
A total number of 570 comprising 30 contingents and two teachers each from the selected school were on parade. Three schools were under the kindergarten category,10 for primary, 8 for junior high category and three under the senior high school.
